‘No chance!’ – Austin rules out England Euro 2016 call-up

first_imgCharlie Austin has ruled himself out of contention for England’s squad for Euro 2016.The 26-year-old QPR striker was called up by Roy Hodgson at the end of last season after scoring 18 goals in the Premier League. He was in the squad for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland and the European Championship qualifier against Slovenia, but he is still waiting to make his senior international debut. But, following Rangers’ relegation from the Premier League, he claims he has ‘no chance’ of being part of Hodgson’s plans for France next summer.Speaking to the Sports Bar, he said: “If you ask me now have I got a chance of getting into the squad for Euro 2016 I would say 100 per cent, no.“There’s not a chance that someone playing in the Championship would get called up for England, irrelevant of how many goals I might score.“I can’t see anybody from outside the Premier League getting called up, I really can’t.”last_img read more
