The Bulldogs opened the spring season last week at the Yestingsmeier Match Play, where they finished in sixth. Drake fell to host Ball State in the first round and then bounced back to defeat MVC foe Loyola in the consolation semifinals. Following the Loyola Intercollegiate the Bulldogs will head back to Arizona for the GCU Invitational on March 16-17. Sophomore Kyle MacDonald put together one of the best 54-hole score of the season with a 213 (71-70-72) at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational and finished in eight-place. MacDonald finished the fall season with a 72.6 average over 12 rounds. Drake entered the spring season coming off a very successful fall campaign with four players scoring an average round of 74 or less.Senior Drew Ison led the team with a 72.9 round average over 15 rounds, which included a runner-up finish at the Zach Johnson Invitational. Live Results Junior Jack Kennedy played some of his best golf of his career during the fall as he posted a 73.1 average over 15 rounds, which included four top-25 finishes. The 54-hole event will be played at Palm Valley Golf Club and features 18 teams, including; host Loyola (Md.), Air Force, Army, Charleston, Connecticut, DePaul, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Gonzaga, Hartford, Murray State, Missouri State, Seton Hall, Siena, SIU-Edwardsville, Towson, UT-Martin and Xavier.
