IoF Cymru receives Lottery funding to extend fundraising training

first_imgIoF Cymru receives Lottery funding to extend fundraising training The Institute of Fundraising Cymru has been awarded a Third Sector Skills Initiative grant by the Big Lottery Fund to enable it to provide more fundraising training. The £390,755 grant will fund its provision of Fundraising Health Checks and Executive Coaching, helping charities review and strengthen their fundraising practices. The funding follows a reduction in funding for the charity sector in Wales from national and local government, despite demand for many charities’ services increasing. Many small charities report a skills shortage in fundraising. The funding will support 35 small and medium-sized charities in Wales each year for three years. The support will help these charities to review their fundraising practice and draw up a programme of assistance and appropriate training. It will help the whole charity to develop a sustainable fundraising strategy. The funding will also allow IoF Cymru to offer executive coaching for fundraisers in smaller charities. This will be a tailored programme for the fundraiser and their charity working with an experienced consultant to improve their ability to fundraise for the causes they work on.The project will start working with charities in June 2017.Martin Price, Chair of The Institute of Fundraising Cymru said: “Our successful networks in South, North and West Wales go some way to mitigating the issues of isolation, but we feel we can build on this with this project. We are very happy that the Big Lottery Fund recognises the need for bespoke fundraising support for smaller charities.”Applications from charities for the support are likely to open in April 2017.
