Bowling teams from West Genesee and Solvay began their 2019-20 seasons last week, with the Wildcats again having home matches at Solvay Recreation Alley and the Bearcats returning to Strike-N-Spare Lanes for much of its schedule.Of those teams, no one was more impressive than the Solvay boys, who took on Christian Brothers Academy last Tuesday and, led by Alex Gallardo, shut out the Brothers 7-0.Gallardo shot games of 188, 205 and 222, improving throughout his series until he finished at 615, while Ed Matsyuk’s 206 was part of a 544 series. WG’s girls team took a 3-0 defeat to Fulton, with Lorelai Leskoske pacing the Wildcats thanks to her 430 series and 169 high game. Gabbie Gardner added a 345 set as the Red Raiders got a 478 series from Alexis Ingersoll.Bowling again two days later, WG’s girls defeated East Syracuse Minoa 3-0, with Leskoske’s 456 series the best of all individuals as Gardner contributed a 371 set.Meanwhile, the boys Wildcats, lost 2-1 to ESM, with Calvin Lee shooting a 519 series and Connor Chawgo, with a 497 set, beating out Bobby Bidwell (486 series) and Richard Wituszynski (476 series).Solvay bowled Friday and blanked Chittenango 7-0 in the girls match to move to 1-1. Lee’s 467 series led all individuals as Michalena Raymond had a 442 series and Elien got a 431 set.Just as strong on the boys side, the Bearcats claimed another 7-0 decision over the Bears as Ethan Bigelow shot a 247 game on his way to a 559 series.
